Scottish Silver Pair Case Pocket Watch J Pozzi
A rare, Sterling Silver Pair Cased Pocket Watch made by the Scottish Provincial maker, John A Pozzi of Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire in north east of Scotland.
John Andrew Pozzi (1840 - 1921) was born in Elgin in 1840. He is recorded in the 1881 and 1891 census as a watchmaker, working in Mintlaw. He is the son of Joseph Pozzi, the Elgin silver maker.
The watch is currently not in working order, therefore being sold as in need of repair/restoration.
The English sterling silver watch case is in excellent condition. It is hallmarked with the maker's mark, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Chester town mark and date letter "C" for 1903/04. The inside of the case also with the serial number 92481 to match the movement proving both are original and have been together since new.
The fusee movement is not in working order. It appears to be in good, clean condition and the balance swings freely, however the fusee chain is missing. It is signed by the maker's "John A Pozzi, Mintlaw". It is key wound and set (no key provided) and is complete with dust cover.
The dial is also signed by the maker.
