Scottish Oak Grandmother Clock oak grandmother clock Stewart %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Circa 1930, oak grandmother antique clock with an unusual design hood and case. The narrow tall Grandmother clock has a domed top hood and a glazed door with a very fine beading. The clock has a makers name on the dial ‘R.Stewart Ltd Glasgow’. The dial is unusual with a brass bezel with Roman numerals, but the background is oak in the parquetry style with a flower head motif in the centre carved out of oak. There is a further brass bezel on the top for the chimes and there are open fretwork hands. The side has very stylish open fretwork soundboard with fabric behind it. Below the hood is a small section with blind fretwork on the front. The door repeats the pattern of the face with parquetry and there is an unusual carved shell in the centre. This pattern is repeated again on the bottom section. There is a simple beading around the base and the clock stands on four squat feet. It is unusual to get parquetry pattern on a clock of this size. Serviced, working and guaranteed.
