A rare 16th Century English Carved Oak Slope Box, c1550-1600. With original iron hinges, iron lock with plate. Hasp missing. The front chip carved with scratch carved band and punchwork within. Original oak partition to interior. Makers punch marks evident to front panel and lid. Beautiful primitive example with thick cleaved oak boards, dovetailed and joined with handmade iron nails. Superb wedge shaped form, the back board slanting inward. Wonderful surface colour and original untouched patination. All major credit and debit cards accepted.
