Pierced Silver Napkin Ring, W.J. Myatt & Co, 1936
This is a very striking pierced Sterling Silver Napkin Ring from the short reign of Edward VIII. The napkin ring was made by W.J. Myatt & Co and assayed in Birmingham in 1936. W.J.Myatt & Co were founded around 1900 and remained in business until just after the Second World War. They produced a wide variety of consistently good quality small silver items such as thimbles, vesta cases, shoe horns, pin cushions and napkin rings as well as occasional larger pieces such as boxes and candlesticks.
This is an attractive napkin ring with a pierced design running right around the body. There is no personalisation of any kind.
Condition is good with no dings or dents and only minimal wear, such as you would expect after many years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The napkin ring is 4.5cm in diameter and 2.5cm deep. It weighs 10.5g.
The hallmarks, on the rim of the napkin ring, are well struck and clear to read. They are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "M" for 1936 and the WJM & Co makers' mark for W.J. Myatt & Co.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
