A fabulous 19th Century Chinoiserie folding firescreen with concave corners. The front of the firescreen is beautifully painted with a traditional Chinese garden scene of figures, oriental buildings, birds and trees under drifting clouds. The return panels are equally well painted with male and female figures. The front panel and returns are edged with a gold painted foliate border. There are hinges to the top, maybe to fix if fully extended, these fold to the back and do not need to be used. The condition is good, there are some blemishes to the surface as can be seen in the photographs, these are not detrimental to the overall appearance and are not obvious.The screen stands well with no wobbles.A really unusual and decorative firescreen that would be an eye catching addition to any interior, whether traditional or contemporary.
