A large and impressive early 17th Century Flemish tapestry depicting a heron within a woodland setting with castle behind. Surrounded by a flowers,fruit and swags. Appears to be made from a number of fibres including wool.
The heron is more than likely to be presented in an allegorical context.
Sourced directly from a private Norfolk collection.
Condition - Age and light related fading and degradation to the some of the fibres (see images). The whole tapsetry has been backed on to a later green fabric for support.
