This is a very nice Victorian carriage clock of French manufacture dating from the last quarter of the nineteenth century by one of the foremost makers of his time , Henri Jacot. This clock bears the typical parrot trademark on the backplate and the serial number 7653 .This number is also stamped on the bottom plate.
The 8 day gong striking movement is in full working order with its original silvered platform lever escapement number 10649 . It also has a push button repeat facility..
The fancy Anglaise based style case is unusual in design as can be seen in the images and I dont remember seeing this design before.
I find the 2 1/4 inch masked dial particulary pleaseing and it has a gilded sight ring.
The size is also ideal for modern tastes being just under 7 1/2 inches tall to the very top of the case (handle up ),4inches wide and 3 1/2 inches deep making it suitable to be placed anywhere.
The overall condition is excellent as can be seen from the images having been professionally cleaned serviced and the case lacquered a few years ago and has patinated nicely. The original gilding has been retained. The bevelled glass is perfect .
I am sure that the condition will delight the most discerning customer.
The substantial high quality movement has also been fully cleaned and serviced.
The only area of note is the faintest of hairline cracks at 9 oclock which cannot beseen from two feet away.
My direct contact details are at the very bottom of most of my listings.
Should the asking price be paid in full I will ship and provide a 2 years guarantee free of charge in England,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.
Any lesser offers that may be accepted will be considered a trade sale and the clock sold as described with shipping the responsibility of the buyer.
I will ship this clock worldwide
