A superb quality writing slope with stunningly painted porcelain Sevres style panels to all surfaces. It is surmounted by gilded brass figures on the front corners, typical of French exuberance of this period, and thought to be circa 1840. it stands on 4 gilded brass feet and has a front panel of a bucolic countryside scene.

The box opens to reveal a writing slope complete with 2 inkwells, but missing its original pen. Can you imagine the wealth of the family who originally commissioned this box. It is extremely rare and of great quality. The box is offered straight from an important private collection. Some of the gilding around the panels show signs of wear, and the back panel shows signs of movement. There are no chips or cracks visible and no sign of any restoration.

The quality of this item cannot be overstated. It comes complete with its own travelling case which, unlike the box itself, shows signs of wear and use.
