Georgian Birch Single-Drawer Writing Table Desk
This antique table dates from the early part of the nineteenth century. It is constructed from what we believe to be solid birch and has a single drawer beneath the top. The The table is supported on tall tapering legs. It would make a nice small writing table or hall table.
Condition: Overall this piece is in usuable condition but does have some wear consistent with age and use and would benefit from some tlc. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall heavily faded. There is some staining and some ring marks to the top, and the top and drawer base have some shrinkage cracking. The metal drawer handles are more modern replacements. The drawer is missing its esutcheon - it retains its lock, but pease note that no key is present. The drawer runners are worn. One of the back legs is a little wonky due to a knot in the wood half way down - this is as it was made. There are some signs of old woodworm - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 74cm high, 81cm wide, 45cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
