George V Dressing Table Pot with Silver Lid, 1913
This is an attractive George V Cut Glass Dressing Table Pot with a Sterling Silver lid dating to just before World War One. The glass pot has slice cut sides and a star cut base. The silver lid has embossed flower and scroll decoration surrounding a central cartouche which is blank. The inside of the lid is gilded.
The dressing table pot is made in London and dates to 1913. We've looked everywhere on the silver lid and can't find a makers' mark, so it has probably been polished away over the course of time.
Condition is very good, with no chips or cracks in the glass pot, no dings or dents in the silver lid and just one tiny hole where the silver has been polished through. It has clearly been well loved for the last 110 years. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The dressing table pot stands 5.8cm / 2.2ins high and is 5cm / 1.9ins in diameter. The lid by itself weighs in at 6.8g / 0.24oz of solid Sterling Silver and all together the pot weighs 100.3g / 3.5oz.
The main set of three hallmarks on the top of the lid are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London and the date letter s for 1913.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
