Gents 1950s 9ct gold Longines wrist watch
A gents 1950s 9ct gold Longines wrist watch.
The watch has a hand-winding movement, 12.68Z, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Longines name and the serial number 10,998,361 dates it back to 1959.
The watch itself measures 33.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1961, with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison, a prolific manufacturer who supplied various watch manufacturers with cases. The inside of the case back also has the name Baume... Baume & Co were based in Hatton Garden, London and were the UK agents for Longines. The case is in lovely condition and there is a small gold hallmark to the back of one of the lugs.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial has light freckling and some discolouration. Original dauphine shaped hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
