This is an attractive and superb quality antique French provincial carved oak rectangular coffee table, circa 1860.

Description:
This is an attractive and superb quality antique French provincial carved oak rectangular coffee table, circa 1860. The top of the coffee table features stunning oak boards, finished with a gadroon moulded edge. Below, there is a large single working chestnut lined drawer, which feature hand dovetail joints, which is ideal for storing magazine and smaller items. The drawer features its original carved central handle. The frame of the table is constructed using the original peg construction method and the frieze is decorated with profuse floral carvings to all sides. Below, the coffee table is supported by four strong barley twist legs, which are connected by a central barley twist stretcher, and terminate on floral carved block feet. The block stretchers features further floral carvings. This period coffee table is unique and quirky with stunning quality it would be ideal in either a traditional or contemporary setting.
This item features a rich mid to dark brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This coffee table is in excellent condition. Adapted from a taller table some time ago, the table boasts its original polish it has a fantastic colour and patination to the top. There are no marks or scratches to the top of the table. The single working drawer is in excellent working order it features the original carved handles and closes flush to the frame. The table is well constructed, solid in joint (does not wobble) and is ready to use.
