Eureka Mahogany Electromagnetic Mantel Clock
A beautiful early 20th century electromagnetic balance library timepiece by The Eureka Clock Company Limited, London
Serial number 7765
The antique clock has been tested working on C cell 1.5v batteries in parallel and via a low voltage adaptor which I currently am using.
Finished in a beautiful mahogany case which is stamped number 40 inside the rear.
Original bevelled glass with no chips
Original polished brass handles
4.5” enamel dial with original blued steel spade hands and marked ‘The Eureka Clock Company Ltd’ London.
The rear door with original brass handle opens revealing the back of the dual bearing movement which is wheel finished and with the battery compartment to the lower section.
The clock has a period 1.5v light fitting c1930’s above the XII numeral that wasn’t originally wired up, with this was a 25mm hole to the side of the case for the original switch, I have fitted a new period style toggle switch and re-wired the light which illuminates the dial beautifully at night and would be perfect for a Home Study or Library.
Measurements:
15” H
11” W
6” D
The flag, contact pin and bearing glasses have been cleaned and decontaminated, inner bearings cleaned and oiled along with all moving components. Also new + - wiring fitted to the power.
the flag was reverberating noise a little more than I liked when the contact was passing over so I have attached a removable small nylon dampener which softens any reverberation noise as the contacts passes the flag, this can be removed with ease and will not leave any telltale, it just makes it even more quiet.
Clock runs well, may require regulating after travelling in transit.
We also have available separately the very rare 1979 first edition hardback book ‘THE EUREKA CLOCK’ by Dr. F.G. Alan Shelton, offered in superb order.
