Early 18th Century Spanish Walnut Centre Table
With original scrolling ironwork and in superb original condition, this substantial Spanish centre or sofa table is made from solid walnut and dates from c. 1730
The lovely overhung single slab top with stepped and shaped border - made from a single piece of walnut - and the legs original also carved from solid walnut and peg jointed.
Extremely heavy and robust, beautiful colour and the iron stretcher hand wrought with original finish.
The top has a dark pool in one corner where a candle was left to burn. This happened hundreds of years ago - so long ago that the natural patina and colour of the walnut has developed to smooth and blend this - it is a really charming and attractive aspect of the table.
This lovely piece will light up your room, adding character, practicality and function in either a modern light linear setting or in a setting with other antique furnishings. Would look fabulous with early candlesticks or displaying blue and white china.
Wonderful proportion and form and beautifully made by a skilled craftsman almost 300 years ago.
Guaranteed to delight.
Dimensions are:
54 inches long, 22 inches deep and 31 inches high.
Floor to underside of the table is 29.5 inches.
For metric please multiply by 2.5 I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice.
