William Joseph Boyes 1847-1935
born 1847 in Bradford Yorkshire and lived in the area all his life.
He founded the Yorkshire Union of Artists (YUA) in the late 1880's (members included Atkinson Grimshaw, Fred Lawson and Henry Moore) he was an art teacher in local Schools and colleges, including Thornton Grammar School, Batley Grammar School, Bradford Technical School and College.
He painted mainly landscapes and scenes in Yorkshire and around the country including North Wales, Lincolnshire, Devon and here the Lake District
