Here we have a very rare French Chestnut dresser in its wonderful and original paint c1780. As you can see the dresser has outstanding colour and patina. Over the last three months the dresser has been with an expert paint consevator who has stabalized the paint for the next generation of its life. The fact that the paint has survived is quite remarkable and we are very honoured to have this in our stock. The top has a naive marble effect finish. There is a thumb moulded edge and a frieze below with single middle drawer. The drawers have scroll work work decoration in pastel green and terracotta on an off white almost light grey ground. This decoration continues around the beautifully shaped panelled doors. Both doors have stunning naive pastoral scenes with rich cobalt blue as the foremost colour. The sides have wonderful playful naive scenes of hens pulling a worm out of an apple and a monkey stealing food from a parrot. The carcass being solid Chestnut is heavy and structurally sound throughout and the whole sits on exquisitely shaped cabriole legs with a shaped frieze between beautifully decorated in lined pastel green. Internally there is a single shelf, original base boards and original hinges and locks. A superb interior design piece the like of which we rarely see. The dresser is in great retail condition and ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 140 cm wide 113 cm high 57 cm deep.
