Brass Mounted Teak Zanzibar Chest, 19th Century
This is a sweet, floor standing late 19th century teak Zanzibar chest of small proportions with finely pierced and engraved brass mounts to top and three sides. It is also fitted with a substantial pair of brass handles for carrying the chest, and the whole is raised on bun feet.
The lid with moulded edge lifts to reveal an open interior with a lidded candle box to one side.
This is a versatile piece of furniture which can be used for storage as well as for a coffee table or drinks table. It can be displayed just about anywhere in the house - it would be a striking addition to a hallway, make a great drinks table in a lounge or provide extra storage for clothes and blankets at the foot of a bed in a bedroom.
Dimensions: Width 81 x Depth 45 x Height 53 cm
The last photo shows it in comparison to a large Grand Tour bronze of Hermes and a small Japanese bronze of a fisherman.
Condition: This chest in excellent antique condition having been gently cleaned and wax polished in our workshop. All brass mounts are present. It lacks a key.
Delivery: This chest can be delivered by our trusted delivery man to most places in England and Wales for £60. Please contact us to confirm the delivery cost.
