A beautiful foil & celluloid compact made by Gwenda especially to celebrate the 1938 Empire Exhibition in Glasgow. The lid is made from tin foil which makes this an excellent 10th (wedding) anniversary gift. The minutely detailed decoration is in very good condition as it is protected with a celluloid cover. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent. The powder well rim is inscribed 'MADE IN ENGLAND'. The original smart tartan (plaid) puff & sifter are in place & they are also in very good condition. The octagonal base is good with only a few marks on the black enamel.

This antique Art Deco foil compact measures almost 6 cm & weighs 37.9 grams.
