An unusual Birds-eye maple whatnot whatnot birds-eye maple Cope %%alt5%%
This attractive whatnot is in very good and original condition and retains its original "Cope's Patent" castors. It is unusual to find an entire piece of antique furniture made from Birds-eye maple, so called because of the appearance the figure resembles small bird’s eyes.It occurs occasionally in Acer saccharum (Sugar Maple) trees and is said to be the result of poor growing conditions. 780mm high, 360mm wide and 360mm deep. Circa 1850.
