Small late 19th.c. Aesthetic movement bamboo side cabinet c.1880. Bamboo frame with ‘Japaned’ or lacquer work top featuring an oriental scene of flowers and birds against a black ground. Two glazed doors with ebonized trim and bamboo form metal handles. The sides retain their original, and rather beautiful, Japanese embossed paper whilst the inside is lined in a more traditional block print paper. Condition is very good, with only some minor damage to the lacquer work and paper.
