19thC Elm Windsor Armchair of rare design Welsh Stick Chair %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A wonderful early 19th Century elm Windsor carver chair of beautiful rare form. Featuring a pretty shaped central back splat, well turned legs and further qualit details such as the reeding to back supports and scroll terminations to arms.
Either adapted by the maker at the time of purchase or soon after to a carrying chair using blacksmith made hardware. It was most probably used for carrying a elderly person or used in ceremony. Strong and stable with desirable mellow colour and in excellent original condition it is a comfortable and most interesting piece.
